FC 24: Understanding Loan Players in Ultimate Team
First introduced in FUT 15, loan players are items that you can use for a limited number of games. They can inject that extra bit of quality into your squad for a few games and prove vital in key fixtures. Because of that, more and more people are using them. This guide will elucidate the concept of loan players in FC 24 Ultimate Team, helping gamers make the most out of these temporary team members.
Identifying Loan Players
Loan player items are identified by a blue circle in the bottom right corner. The number within the circle shows us how many matches he can play until his contracts expire and his card becomes obsolete. For example, a player with a blue circle showing ‘7’ can be used for seven games. After this, the player cannot be renewed or used in competitive games.
In addition, you cannot sell loan player items, which means you will not find them on the transfer market. You will receive 0 FC 24 Coins if you try to discard them. Besides that, you cannot use them to submit squad-building challenges.
Utilizing Loan Players
Loan players can be strategically used in your squad for a limited time. It’s crucial to manage their game count wisely to maximize their impact. Once a loan player reaches one game left, transferring them out of your active squad is recommended to avoid accidentally using them in competitive modes like Squad Battles and Division Rivals.
However, even with one game left, loan players can still be used in friendly game modes, allowing players to continue enjoying their presence in the team. Creating a separate squad consisting of loan players with one game left can be beneficial for participating in friendlies without affecting the game count of the loan players.
Acquiring Loan Players
Loan players can be acquired through various means, including objectives, store packs, and Squad Building Challenges (SBCs). Some objectives and SBCs specifically reward players with loan player packs, and promo packs in the store occasionally include loan players as well.
If you win a loan player item you already own in your club, you don’t have to discard any of them. You can combine them into one card with the sum of both contracts and preserve the stats from the first one.
Managing Loan Players
Like any other player card, except in the Friendlies and Moments modes, you are spending one contract when you use a loan player. His loan duration remains unchanged if he remains on the subs or reserves. However, you cannot apply contracts to his card to extend the loan. As soon as he runs out of contract, he becomes useless.
Once a loan player expires, they can be converted to a concept player, which is solely for planning purposes and cannot be used in games. Concept players have a blue background and can be placed in squads for planning but cannot participate in any competitive or friendly games.
Except for contracts, all other consumables work OK on loan players, though most of the time, considering their limited availability, it’d be a bit of a waste.
Understanding and managing loan players effectively in FC 24 Ultimate Team mode can enhance your gameplay experience. By identifying, utilizing, and acquiring loan players strategically, you can optimize your team’s performance in various game modes while being mindful of the limitations of loan players.
